Unsurprisingly, battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are some of the greenest cars to drive, and the Hyundai Kona Electric is near the top of the list. This small Hyundai SUV has an EPA-estimated range of 261 miles, puts out more than enough power at 201 hp, and is replete with modern technology.
2. Toyota Prius Prime
As a plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicle, the Toyota Prius Prime is a solid alternative to BEVs for drivers who can’t commit to keeping a battery fully charged. The Prius Prime boasts 44 miles of all-electric range, then gets up to 52 MPG using its hybrid powertrain. This dual-powertrain gives it something of a best-of-both-worlds vibe.

With a range of up to 212 miles with the extended range battery or 149 miles with the regular battery pack, the Nissan Leaf is most suitable as a short-range commuter car. However, its low price tag, quick acceleration, and surprisingly roomy cabin combine with its eco-friendliness to make it a worthwhile option for people who don’t drive much.
5. Toyota Camry LE
Not everyone has the ability to charge a BEV or PHEV at home. The Toyota Camry LE is a gas hybrid vehicle, which means it doesn’t need to be plugged in. As a result, it’s not quite as green an option as the plug-in EVs on this list. However, the Camry LE still gets 51 combined MPG, which is nothing to scoff at.

7. Hyundai Elantra Blue
The Hyundai Elantra has long been one of America’s favorite compact sedans. The Elantra Blue is Hyundai’s hybrid trim. It’s a gas hybrid good for 54 combined MPG and has a lower starting MSRP than any other vehicle on this list, which is essential for many of today’s eco-conscious drivers.
