Working remotely offers you the unique opportunity to take your work with you to a foreign country. If you want to do this for the next few years, you’ll need to apply for a digital nomad visa. Thankfully, these are pretty easy to obtain and make it possible for you to have the wonderful experience of living in a foreign land and working in a country that might be considered paradise.

Here are a few of the best countries offering digital nomad visas.

Spain

Spain is one of the most amazing countries in Europe, and it offers easy access to the rest of the continent. The visa you need costs about $88, which means you won’t spend a lot to get one and move to Spain to pick up your work in this wonderful country. In order to make this country your new home, you need to have a minimum income of twice the Spanish minimum wage, which is currently $2,565 per month.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands is one of the best places to go when you want to enjoy a fantastic place to visit. Although the document to work in the Netherlands isn’t technically called a digital nomad visa, you can apply for a long-stay visa as a self-employed work, independent entrepreneur, or freelancer. Your application will be reviewed on three criteria, which means your work must bring some value to the country before you’ll be granted entry and the ability to work in The Netherlands.

Norway

You must have a passport that will remain valid for at least two years when you arrive in Norway. For people who are self-employed, they must provide proof of company ownership outside of the country. Applicants must also submit proof of residence for their stay and accepted health insurance. The fee for the visa is $641, and the applicants must visit the Norwegian embassy or consulate in person to complete the application. This process can be lengthy, but if you really want to work in Norway, you’ll have to go through it.

Estonia

Some people might not think Estonia actually exists, but it does. This small country borders the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland and offers two types of digital nomad visas. If you’re only planning to stay for 90 days or less, the cost is $86, but long-term visas cost $108. The income required to have a work visa in this little country is $4,846 per month, with requirements for health insurance coverage, a background check, and an in-person submission of the application to the Estonian embassy or consulate.

Romania

The visa you need to work in Romania is valid for one year and can be renewed for a second year. You need a valid passport, health insurance, travel arrangements to the country, proof of accommodation, proof of employment with a company outside of Romania with work that’s completed remotely, a clear criminal record, a letter of intent, and income of at least $4,000 per month. You can submit an application in person or on the e-visa website for Romania.

Malta

Malta is one of the most incredible and scenic countries along the Mediterranean Sea. Located in Southern Europe, Malta has a strong digital nomad visa program that requires work that can be performed entirely remotely. You must also have a clean background check and criminal record. To obtain a visa to work in Malta remotely, you must have an income of at least $45,233 per year. Each application costs $323, and the residency card costs $30. This could be the most beautiful place you ever get to work, making it worth the effort to obtain the visa.

Portugal

One of the most popular countries to visit and work through a digital nomad visa is Portugal. This country offers an affordable cost of living, a thriving cultural scene, and an amazing environment. You can live in Portugal for one year when you receive your visa, and you’ll have the option to extend that stay up to four times, giving you up to five years in this amazing country. You must have an income of at least $3,511 per month and most of the same requirements as other countries.

Do you want to live and work in a foreign country? Apply for the digital nomad visa program for that country and get ready for an adventure to a country you’ve always wanted to visit and enjoy.
