Staycation Bliss: Create Fun Adventures Right at Home

Do you need a change of scenery but can’t afford to take a full-on vacation? Maybe you need to think about staying on a staycation.

When you can’t get away because of financial or personal reasons, such as caring for pets and family members, you can have a great time staying close to home. You might not be able to get away, but there could be some great things you can do right in your own area.

Here are some great staycation ideas to help break up the daily grind and give you a fantastic way to enjoy your time away from work.

Pitch a tent in your backyard

If you have kids, they will love this idea. You can turn the backyard into a wonderful travel oasis of camping and fun. Roast marshmallows for s’mores over the fire pit or grille, put up a sheet to have a backyard movie night and pitch a tent where you can stay overnight. This is a great way to get out of the house but still have the comforts and needs of home right where you need it. If you can get away from your house, find a local campground and check it out.

Enjoy a local hotel

Can you get away for a night or two? If so, try staying at a local hotel or resort. Go for the full treatment and find one with a spa, a pool, and some room service options for you to enjoy during your stay. It’s great to be pampered and waited on, even if it’s only a few miles from your home. This could be a great way for you and your partner to get away from the kids for a couple of nights.

Become a local tourist

When you love the comfort of your own bed, you can mix things up and enjoy the touristy thing during the day. This is a classic staycation idea. Check out some of the amazing local attractions that you haven’t thought to enjoy in the past. Every city has a website full of landmarks, activities, and fun things to do in the area. You may have missed these in the past because you were working while they took place. Now, you can enjoy them and become a tourist in your own town.

Create a cozy space at home

This might sound like more of a project than it really is. All you’ve got to do is create a cozy space in your home where you can relax, enjoy a good book, or eat a wonderful meal. Once you’ve created the space its time to enjoy the reason you created this area. Get a book out and start reading or enjoy your favorite comfort foods while binge watching some of your favorite shows.

Visit the closest amusement park to your home

If you want to spend the day riding roller coasters and watching some cool shows, find out where the closest amusement park is to your home. This is a fantastic staycation idea and something that you can do when you have a day off during the week. Weekdays are often best for spending time at the amusement parks because they aren’t as busy as weekends or summer. This can be a wonderful day of fun and adventure for you.

Take a hike at your local state or national park

Most areas are close to various state parks, which can be great locations for you to enjoy a fun hike through the woods and on the trails. This means you’ll get to go exploring and enjoy the amazing scenery offered. Go hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, or wildlife-watching during your time at the park. Take a picnic lunch and plan some great activities while there. This is a wonderful way to get back to nature and enjoy what this park has to offer.

R-E-L-A-X

One of the most important aspects of your staycation is to make it like a vacation and relax. This means sleeping in, turning off the alarms, silencing your phone, and doing what you want. You could buy a new pair of pajamas and spend your entire day in your bed if you want, or just relax at home. Have a day where you don’t do any work, which means planning some easy food and a relaxed experience. An unplugged and relaxing day can be the best thing to recharge your batteries.

What will you do during your staycation? This is a great opportunity to spend time with yourself, getting back to what you want to enjoy during your time away from work.
